Field Trip to Vassar Barns Ecological Preserve

Wow, what a wonderful field trip to Vassar Barns Ecological Preserve for our homeschoolers! Friendly staff and Vassar student assistants led the kids on a hike around The Preserve, visiting a pond, stream, and forest. Attendees were encouraged to make observations and ask questions as they visited a pond, stream, and forest. The children then walked the labyrinth, were treated to an outdoor snack and story time, and put together their own nature journals with leaf rubbings. Many thanks to the knowledgeable and welcoming facilitators at The Preserve!

The mission of the Vassar Ecological Preserve is to protect and preserve the ecological diversity of the land to ensure that its educational value will be maintained in perpetuity. The Vassar Ecological Preserve promotes increased understanding and appreciation of the natural systems on the preserve through field-based education and research.
