What a terrific performance by our homeschool cast of critters! Children who participated in the recent homeschool theater classes showed off their new acting skills in a production of The Tree, a play written and directed by Naomi Phillips. Over the course of seven weeks, Naomi has worked with the group to practive a variety of new skills, including: body movement to tell a story, voice projection, memorization, and more!
On Monday, July 25th, the kids performed at a pavilion in Bowdoin Park before a group of proud parents, grandparents, and friends. The Tree tells the story of a group of woodland critters who work together to save their home and protect it against those who seek to destroy it! The cast portrayed an owl, a bull, a firefly, a goat, a squirrel, and twin hummingbirds - all with creative homemade costumes.

Director Naomi, had this to say about working with our talented group of homeschool students, ranging in ages from 5 to 10: "I have had so much fun directing these kiddos for the last 6 weeks. They have been very motivating to each other and to me. I am amazed at how much they have accomplished and now bringing this beautiful story to you. Thank you for allowing me to teach your children about how important it is to keep the ARTS alive in our souls."
Everyone celebrated the success of the play afterwards with a lovely potluck BBQ lunch. Bravo, kids!
